Faculty Fellowships
The Pembroke Center's Faculty Research Fellowships support the participation of Brown faculty members in the Pembroke Seminar, an interdisciplinary research seminar that meets weekly throughout the academic year. Participants include Pembroke Center Postdoctoral Fellows, Brown faculty, visiting faculty, faculty affiliates, and graduate and undergraduate fellows. In 2008-2009, the seminar focuses on "Visions of Nature: Constructing the Cultural Other " (see full description). Senior Faculty Fellow and Associate Professor of Art Leslie Bostrom leads the seminar. It meets on Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 pm.
Applications for the Upcoming Seminar
Funds will be made available, on a per-course replacement basis, to enable faculty members to receive release time from one course to participate in the 2009-2010 seminar. The seminar will be under the direction of Senior Faculty Fellow and Professor of Anthropology Kay Warren. The seminar will meet on Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (see full description, coming soon )
All campus-based full-time faculty members are encouraged to apply. An application should include a current curriculum vitae and a project proposal (1000 words) that describes the applicant's research. Faculty participants should have an active interest in the seminar's topic, but the research project may be in any related field and need not directly address the topic.
The deadline for application is December 12, 2008.
