Joan Wallach Scott and Louise Tilly coathored "Women's Work and the Family in 19th-Century Europe" in Comparative Studies in Society and History (1974) and Women, Work, and the Family (1978). Their extensive correspondence attests to the process and productivity of their intellectual collaboration as well as the challenges they faced juggling professional commitments, family life, and their mutual passion for historical research.
